Cached Exchange Mode in Outlook

On this page you will be able to see a list of guides that I have created.

What is Cached Exchange Mode?

Cached Exchange Mode is a mode within Microsoft Outlook that is used for Microsoft Exchange and Office 365 accounts. It does what it says on the tin... caches a set amount of emails to your computer. It is useful if you need to look at your emails when you don't have access to the internet, however it can cause some issues.

Accessing Cached Exchange Mode Settings

Following the steps below, you will be able to access the settings for Cached Exchange Mode in Outlook.

Outlook 2007

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Go to the tools menu option and click on account settings.
  3. Select the account you wish to change the settings for and double click it, or click on change.
  4. You should see a check box to turn Cached Exchange Mode on & off.
  5. If you click on the More Settings button and then advanced, there are further settings - such as turning off caching shared mailboxes/folders whilst keeping on caching for your main mailbox.
  6. You can apply these, then click next and finish. You will then need to restart Outlook for the changes to take affect.
